Letter to the Orlando Sentinel

I don't know if it will be printed, but I am hoping. I wrote a letter to the Orlando Sentinel, which I am pasting below for your reading pleasure. It focuses on Lobbyists, which I consider to be the boil on the butt of American democracy. I despise them and I see them as thieves taking from us our leaders, our money and our democracy. They are the seepage that oozes from the corruption of our government's growing wounds. They are the slithering slime of Tallahassee and Washington. They are..... well, you get the idea.

Here it is;

Thank you for your editorial regarding the Seminole commissioners and their pitiful response to the public's demand for more ethical government. I also enjoyed Scott Maxwell's column on Wed. "Elected officials must exit ethical fantasyland". Scott, you are my hero. Constantly we seem to be working around the issue of lobbyists. Why are we always hearing about lobbyists in our government as if they have some constitutional right to be there ? Our democracy is being sold to the highest bidders by the very people we entrusted to represent us. The first step in ridding our communities and our country of the inefficiencies and corruption that so plague our government today is to rid our capital (local, state and national) of ALL lobbyists. Only then will our government get back to working to fix the issues that matter the most. Only then can I visualize them focusing on the work we put them there for in the first place; to govern.

'Nuff said !!

More later..... !

What's This All About?

This blog is my endeavor to lay out some thoughts on things that just plain bug me. This could be about politics, the environment, leaders, news events, etc....

I find I do my best writing when I'm passionate and/or riled by something. I've had several letters printed in the Orlando Sentinel and so I just feel I have something to offer the world that could... perhaps.... make a difference.

I don't know where this might go but I've got to give this medium a try. As someone who really enjoys writing, but doesn't have time to "write a book", this seems like the perfect thing to start doing.
