Argument for a Convention of States - Part 1 - Common Sense

"A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right, and raises at first formidable outcry in defense of custom. But the tumult soon subsides. Time makes more converts than reason.”   Thomas Paine, 1776 from Common Sense.  

      These were the immortal words of Thomas Paine in 1776 at the introduction of his book "Common Sense".   His book is credited with changing the mind of enough colonial Americans to side with a revolution against England.  He inspired them to stop being afraid, to start thinking for themselves,  and stand up to the King of England and all his allied power here in North America.   

     We have our own King of England today, but it's not the actual King of England, of course.   It's the media establishment, the political parties, the multinational corporations and the Lobbyists of our capitals that do the bidding of the wealthiest and most powerful people and entities of the world.  They are the “Mad King George" of our times. 

      In the Declaration of Independence Thomas Jefferson declared that “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” 

       Indeed, we do have  our own "Mad King George" today.   Our "Mad King George" is a federal government out of control with spending, drunk on power, beholden to large moneyed special interests, and at constant battle within itself as one party versus the other.  A never ending orgy of spending, avarice, petulance, greed,  partisan warfare and malevolent intentions that leave the American citizen as the least important aspect of their daily endeavors.  It's time to consider Thomas Jefferson's words and review our arsenal of power as Americans.  The time has come.

What is China Guilty Of ?

      There was a long article from the Associated Press today elaborating on how the President is after China to blame for the Virus outbreak.  In my humble opinion, the article was focusing on the wrong offense- regardless of who is accusing who of what.   China shut down its entire country to control the spread of the Corona Virus in the manner that any autocratic tyranny would operate with no regard to the logic behind locking up healthy people.  The Communist party decided to shut down society and so it happened.  As a consequence,  Italy,  and then Spain and then most of Europe copied the Chinese government.   In our country the President and various states were immediately convinced that we must do as the Europeans did and shut  down society to protect us from ourselves.  The idea is that government has the answers and individuals are incapable of making decisions to protect themselves and their families.   

     While I agree that large events and groups should have been limited and  that 15 days to "flatten the curve" sounded logical at the beginning,  the government and fear overwhelmed logic and stretched this exercise into months of government overreach.  China is a communist country that does not have free elections and has made things such as going to church illegal.  Not because of a virus but because it threatens their power.   It's only guilty of behaving as the tyrannical government that it is.

Trump Impeachment

Dear gentle readers- 

      I wrote a strongly worded letter to the Orlando Sentinel that - so far- they have not printed so instead of letting a good letter go to waste, I've decided to publish it on my little blog.  Enjoy !  


     "I refer to two articles in your newspaper.  The first; "America's global influence declining" and your editorial regarding the Trump impeachment on the opinions page.   (Aren't both articles opinions ? )  As the world's largest economy that is now booming, I assure you the United States still has influence.  The story referenced some NATO leader's of Europe gossiping about Trump as a clear indicator we no longer influence them but then deeper in the article it was finally mentioned that Trump coaxed (aka influenced)  our NATO  "allies" to spend billions more for their own defense.   Also, there was a lot of  reference to China and Russia stepping in as an influence to American allies.   Perhaps they are but the American people are not responsible for the world except as an example to a better society.  Americans elected Trump to get us away from never -ending wars,  allies that take advantage,  bad trade deals,  bloated government, and a privileged class of media and corporations that are vastly more interested in their own money and lives and blood than those of  the American individual.  Joe Biden has participated in Washington politics since 1973.   I'm sure he deserved questions asked of his and his son's activity towards the Ukranian government.  Veiled threats to a foreign government are not appropriate at all,  but worth impeachment ?  I don't think so.  You prefer nice and polite criminals running our government over effective changes.  I want DC fixed and listening to me, not each other."

Happy Independence Day

     Happy Independence Day,  everybody !  I always like to consider the fact that every man in this picture was committing treason against the Crown and risked hanging for signing that document.   It was not a casual, "glad to be here" thing.  We owe it to our children to teach them well the sacrifice and courage as well as a thorough understanding of what was done. They risked it all to pull power from the King and deliver it to the people.  We owe it to these men that we speak up and fight when we feel what's going on in the public domain is wrong.  We owe it to them that we protect basic freedom and liberty from the "flavor of the day" as is common in our world.  We owe it to them that we're proud of our country-- not for its wealth or its military might but for this great precedence that our founders established for us;   Power to the people and our posterity that no person shall infringe on another person's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness whatever that might entail.  We must be vigilant, passionate, and  compassionate in our endeavor to protect what these brave men gifted to us 249 years ago today.

Letter to the Orlando Sentinel - Susan Rice




Dear loyal readers,  I apologize for no posts for a couple of weeks.   Busy spring, and my day job is in the horticulture industry.  Gotta pay the bills !    Anyway,  I had to jot out this letter to the Orlando Sentinel when they actually grew a conscience and published an editorial commenting on the entire Susan Rice issue.  Hope you enjoy, and yes I know I'm leaning to the right these days- but I'm still an adamant independent.   More on that later.

Re:  John Kass column from the Chicago Tribune

      The published column of John Kass of the Chicago Tribune regarding Susan Rice and her skills at "unmasking" members of Trump's transition team was a welcome ray of sunshine from your newspaper, which I noticed ignored the story on Tuesday when it broke.  The absence of any attention to the suspicious details coming out of the Obama administration's opportunistic "observations" of the Trump campaign should be alarming to all Americans.  At the end of the day the Russians are suspected of influencing our election by revealing embarrassing information about Hillary Clinton.  There could not have possibly been any certainty of their tactic because American citizens do have a mind of their own, and that any American businessman would put all his eggs into a PR stunt with the Russians is far-fetched.   What I witnessed this past fall was Donald Trump outworking Hillary Clinton.  Ironically,  we do know the Democrats colluded with the American media to embarrass Donald Trump's campaign- that was what the Russians revealed !  We also know the details of the early days of the Trump administration were leaked to the media because they were headlines in the New York Times !   Susan Rice admittedly "unmasked" some of Donald Trump's team and their conversations "in the name of  national security".   How many times ?  What were they concerned about ?  If that's true, then certainly they heard him conspiring with his Russian friends ?  There are way too many unanswered questions here, but the stench of conspiracy and perhaps felonies seems to be wafting over from those orbiting the previous administration not the existing one.

P.S.  I'll probably edit out some of this, including pointing out they ignored the story-  they tend not to print my letters when I directly criticize their editorial board.   The odds are kind of against me, as they also are less likely to print my letters that lean to the right- I wonder why ?

Comfort the Afflicted & Afflict the Comfortable

                    CNN Executive Ted Turner's Island Estate - He Understands Your Struggles 

     I recently heard a recording on a radio station (yes, a conservative  radio station and yes, I know they are often "unglued") but I like their spunk and I especially like their disdain for the "politically correct" talking heads of our nation who say all the right things but lack sincerity in their coverage.  They're more "real".   Anyway, they played a recording of a  CNN Executive speaking to a group of journalists;   He asks "what is your job?".  They all answer to "tell a story", and he answered  "yes, yes to tell a story" but also "to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable".   First of all, I thought the  job of journalists was to seek the truth, but if "telling a story" is what they teach at the Universities then who am I to argue ?  Second,  I cannot conceive of a more "comfortable"  group of people in need of "afflicting" than the mass media talking heads and their executive masters.  They (CNN, MSNBC, and all the major networks) along with the career politicians, and lobbyists of DC and all the pretty people out in Hollywood, CA cooped up in their mansions (cue the garish Academy Awards from Sunday night, I could gag from their pretentious political correctness- they are the definition of hypocrisy).  ALL of these groups with a total lack of awareness towards how real people live.  These "talking heads" and "stars" and "bureaucrats" would be advised to take out a mirror or go to the nearest restroom to take a good long look.   YOU are the privileged ones   YOU are the comfortable ones needing affliction.  Which brings to mind the old saying;  "You can't see the Forest for the Trees".   Could it be that Donald Trump is the "affliction" THEY all need ?   Could he be the one to "show them to the forest" so to speak ?  We will see.

It Takes a Thief to Know a Thief

     I read an article today in the Orlando Sentinel from the Associated Press regarding Trump's appointment for the SEC chairman (aka- the lead cop for Wall Street) and I was somewhat befuddled to read a comment from Senator Sharrod Brown (D) of Ohio who made this comment regarding the Wall Street Attorney;  “It’s hard to see how an attorney who’s spent his career helping Wall Street beat the rap will keep President-elect Trump’s promise to stop big banks and hedge funds from ‘getting away with murder".  Huh ?   In my humble opinion it makes MORE sense to have an attorney to police Wall Street of this nature because he is most familiar with the "tricks" that Wall Street is liable to try. 

     A lot of Trump's picks for his cabinet are of a similar vein.  They're people from the "world" of the category that needs the oversight.  For example, Tillerson (former CEO for Exxon-Mobil) as Secretary of State who is only about 10 times more qualified for the position than Senator John Kerry.  Tillerson  has the experience dealing with and negotiating with world leaders.  John Kerry is a US Senator familiar with the swamp that is DC and- just as we all would suspect-  that familiarity does not translate to anything productive on the world stage.    His negotiating and diplomatic skills have proved less than impressive., in my humble opinion.  In the end, he's been very successful at wasting a lot of time and negotiating NOTHING in our favor.  *Prez Obama, et al should relax though because he was critically successful at not offending anyone.  

     Only in government do you get these idiotic appointments for positions because of their "opinion" on these things.  Another perfect example is the head of the Dept. of Energy., Steven Chu.  Mr. Chu has abundant experience in physics, even winning the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1997.  The man is truly brilliant... in physics !   Exactly how does that qualify him to run the department of energy ?  I suppose the fact that he's Asian especially caused excitement in the Obama administration as they chose him.   The left is aghast that Trump picked "lilly white" Rick Perry.  Rick ran the state of Texas for nearly a decade - seemingly successfully- and is consequently  familiar with moving things forward over a large organization.  Who is better qualified ?  Mr Chu or Mr. Perry ?  I choose Perry.  

     I am not necessarily enthusiastic about all of Trump's cabinet picks, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt regarding all this.  The historic choices of Presidents to please certain groups and to appoint "window dressing" to vital  positions is absurd and needs to stop.  Maybe he will succeed in draining the swamp, after all ?

Clinton Trump Debate: Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dumb ?

I thought the debate last night was a pretty big snooze.  It was very predictable, with two liars going back and forth about what they will "attempt" to do to steer our country straight.  Glaringly, neither one mentioned Congress which is the source of the government's incompetence this past 10 to 20 years.  With all due respect to Donald Trump's very accurate statement that "she's all talk and no action", so is he.  He just doesn't know it yet.  How will he manage our massive federal government with the vast majority of the key players already disliking him ?    Running the government is not running a business, and although I wish him all the luck in the world to fix it., I don't think he can.  His ideas are grounded in the theory that you can always declare bankruptcy when things go wrong because that's good business using the "laws of the land" as he explained in the debate.   Unfortunately the country can't declare bankruptcy and make all the bad stuff go away.  It's not an option Mr. Trump.   Hillary ?  Hillary is a living, talking, breathing example of everything that is wrong with the federal government right now.  All talk and government goodies,  "We're here to help" and ideas that would make our government even BIGGER.   God help us.   Also, something is wrong with her physically that will come out sooner or later.   She walks gingerly,  like an 85 year old not a 69 year old.  But don't expect this information to come from any news source because they don't really give us information anymore,  only their opinion.  What happened to journalism ?  Why aren't they doing their job ?  They avoid searching for the truth because they're afraid of what they'll find.   No we won't hear it from them we'll have to find this out by someone's camera phone watching her stumble or have an obvious seizure.  This is a very sad situation we have right now with these two fighting it out and the media munching on popcorn as they watch and opine.

"I'm With Her" is an "Epic Fail" Slogan

  But it's pointing right ? 

 Tonight I watch the Democrats and Hillary Clinton.  I missed a lot of last night but  I've heard Michelle Obama's speech was very good, so I'm sorry I missed it.  I also read an article in the paper and a Facebook posting that indicated the Democrats were behaving much better than the Republicans did last week in Cleveland.  Tonight, I'm assuming they've changed their tactic because it seems to be all about Trump and how terrible he is.  I agree the Republicans did this with Hillary, but I can't stand hypocrisy from the left when they say they're "being nicer".   I see very little difference between the two conventions.  Each side is nasty, each is side is highly self-righteous.  I will say though, at the end of the day, shame on the media (both print and television) for being so obviously biased towards the left.   Even 60 minutes offered up   "tea with Hillary" interview in contrast to an outright pummeling of Trump and Mike Pence.  I'm very disappointed in them.  Trump deserved a tough interview after all his boasting and egomania but so did Hillary after a highly publicized e-mail scandal and a questionable record as Secretary of state.  At the end of the day, I see Trump and the Republicans speaking to the left leaning media (CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, etc...)  even though they're often hostile and nasty....  but I don't see any significant player from the Democratic party ever interview with "right leaning" Fox news.  This is cowardly.  

     The other major factor I notice is a huge portion of the speakers tonight are reminding us that Hillary is a female and this would be "historic" to elect a woman as President.  This is one of the main selling points, as far as I can tell !   In my mind this is the least important factor that we have here.  Anyone that votes for a person based on their gender or race is as much a bigot as those that would NOT  vote for someone because of their race or gender.   You diminish that person by basing your choice on something they have no control over.   Therefor. "I'm With Her" is one of the worst slogans I've ever heard.  Donald Trump took advantage  in Cleveland last week by stating in his speech in contrast to being "with her" that he is "with you" he said as he pointed at the camera.  Pretty powerful contrast., and a very clear example of the difference between these two candidates.   This is the biggest gripe I have against the parties over the past 25 years;  neither of them is clearly in the corner of the middle class.  Neither is focused on shedding their "way of thinking" in favor of solutions for the American people.  Donald Trump, with all his bravado and pompous egomania is the first person to point to me and say "I'm With You" and have me believe that could be true.

Disgusted Voters 2016

Dear Loyal Readers,

Thanks for your patience in this time of personal mourning as I work to get my head back into politics.  It has been very hard to write since my choice for the Presidency, Marco Rubio, failed in his bid for the White House.  In my mind he was head and shoulders above the competition so seeing him rejected by the Republicans removed any hope I had for their revival and I think it cast doubt in my mind that the general voter is, in the end, a wise animal.

Below is a letter I wrote to the Orlando Sentinel on Sunday, they haven't printed it (yet?), so I figured I'd toss it out here for you, loyal readers, to peruse and consider.

Thanks for a paper stuffed with anti-party information regarding the antiquated two-party system that has proven itself totally ineffective and contrary to the will of the people.  Three articles today (Friday, June 3) including a headline on voter dissatisfaction, an editorial from two points of view- both opposed to the Democratic VS Republican nonsense and a column by Scott Maxwell pointing out the increasing unpopularity of both parties.  The sooner we establish a system of elections that does not favor the major political parties 'nor require vast quantities of money, the sooner we will get a government that acts as a true advocate of the people.  Perhaps an amendment or a constitutional convention is in order to wrest control of the government away from special interests, greedy media giants, crony capitalists, and government bureaucrats and reclaim it as the domain of the American citizen.  Hopefully Hillary Clinton VS Donald Trump will be the final straw that awakens the wrath of Americans who will be so disgusted by it all as to start making legitimate changes to "how we've always done it".

CBT -Cable News Traitors

Senator Rubio has suggested  constitutional amendments for some of the more glaring problems with our government.  I would like to suggest an amendment restricting the influence of special interests.   Currently one special interest stands out as the most obvious special interest of all;  The Cable news media.  These companies (Fox, CNN, MSNBC, etc…) are making a fortune on our political process.  They stir the pot to excite conflict and give undue coverage to the most divisive candidates.  Then they settle back to watch with glee the discourse they created. In addition, controlling the line of questions in debates allows them to “orchestrate” the debate towards personal insults and insinuations, which not coincidentally profits them greatly.  Important policy questions are few and far between.  Ideally an amendment should be formed that removes the influence of special interests and I think we should start with these circus ringmasters.

Reality TV With Real Consequences Part 5

Senator Ted "Grating Voice" Cruz - Republican (TX)

I know I had said in my previous blog that this would be a blog devoted to Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush but I've decided that at  this point each candidate really deserves their own singular blog in my little series.   They are, after all, the last of the Mohicans so to speak.

First I tip my hat to Ted's campaign.  For someone who claims not to be a "typical politician" he certainly has shown us all how it's done.   His debates are usually decent enough, he has taken on Donald Trump with some success and he has had a few lines that are pretty memorable, for example, calling out the moderators at the disastrous MSNBC debate late last year- one of the few times I nearly stood up and applauded during a debate.   In addition, he can be pretty funny with some excellent marketing going on including a brilliant TV ad focused on little kids playing with a Donald Trump action figure. LOL !  We all love to laugh !   ( If you haven't sen it :   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onUaRyvfv1A )   Funny, but deceptive.  That's one of my bigger problems with Ted.   He seems to lie easily and deliberately often using the ignorance of the public to his advantage.  Effectively, he'll lie to the entire country with a smile on his face.  One debate even showed a video of him saying exactly what he proceeded to say he DID NOT say !    Deceptive is an operative word when referring to Ted Cruz.   In my humble opinion, the only other person in this election year who lies more than Ted Cruz is the queen of lies - her majesty- Hillary Clinton.

I know this is trivial, but Ted Cruz' voice is like no other voice I've ever heard.  Something about it just absolutely grates on my nerves.  It's like nails on a chalkboard.

Finally, Ted Cruz is described far and wide as a "political outsider" because he is notorious for not cooperating with his fellow Senators.   He has blocked nearly any compromise in Washington, DC to the best of his ability.  Understanding where my blog title comes from you can probably deduct how I feel about this aspect of Ted Cruz.  He is the ring leader for the "our way or the highway" mindset that has infected our nations's capital for the past  5 years.  Rather than an outsider (a trait which could be a good thing)  Ted Cruz is more a political outcast with a notorious reputation in DC for being disliked by exactly everyone.   How on earth would you get anything done when you enter the office absolutely loathed by the rest of the government ?  You don't grow dislike to that level by being a reasonable or notable person.   You get to that level of dislike by being a self-serving, sanctimonious, lying and power hungry ass.  The little stunt he pulled on Ben Carson in Iowa, I think, is very typical of the Cruz mentality.  Lie, cheat, steal  Whatever it takes.

Reality TV With Real Consequences Part 2

Huckabee and Santorum

Yesterday was Martin "who?" O'Malley and Rand "perfectly round eyebrows" Paul.   Today, I'd like to review the campaigns of Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum.   At this writing both Mike and Rick have bowed out of the race so this is a "retrospect" review of these reality TV stars.

Interestingly enough, after google searching both candidates it turns out they both have the exact same estimated net worth;  $5 Million.   They also both won the Iowa Caucus in past elections.  They both are born again "Evangelical" Christians.  They both dropped out of the 2016 Reality TV Show in the same week !  What a coincidence !  Creepy, right ?  It's  like the Kennedy-Lincoln similarities we've all read about.    




Mike  "Sunday School Teacher"  Huckabee


Governor Mike Huckabee- Republican (Arkansas) -  Mike is already famous due to his run for the Presidency in 2008, so a lot of people already knew him.  Not to mention  he also had a talk show on Fox for a while "Huckabee", which aired from 2008 to 2015.  So, Mike is famous and that  IS half the battle to becoming President.   I've always liked Mike Huckabee.  His "aw shucks" demeanor and his quick wit make him a crowd favorite.  He's likable !  Unfortunately for him, his last name sounds a lot like "Huckleberry Finn",  as in the bumpkin character of  the Mark Twain novel by the same name.   People naturally think of this when they hear his name and so he's immediately at a disadvantage in that he has to prove he's not a bumpkin.   In my mind Mike seems like a friendly, lovable Sunday school teacher not a President.  Also he's a little too far to the right on social issues.  I'm not saying I agree or disagree, I'm just saying it probably wouldn't play well in the general elections.

Final Verdict;  Mike couldn't stay on the reality TV show because his name puts him at a disadvantage and he seems too much like a Sunday School teacher.




Rick "yesterday's news" Santorum

I've already elaborated on Rick Santorum above since he's a near duplicate of Mike Huckabee.  BUT, just to add a couple of comments.  Rick is not as likable as Mike Huckabee but his name does sound more serious, so that's a plus and a minus for Rick.   Rick was relegated to the "Kiddie table" at the Reality TV debates so I sincerely don't have a fresh take on his positions.  He was always hard to the right, but I liked his sticking up for the common guy.  Rick is a big believer in educating young people according to their skills and that we need to stop making all young people feel like they have to go to a University in order to be worth anything.  I really like that he emphasizes that.  Rick had a real chance back in 2012, but he did eventually run out of steam.  He's kind of like "yesterday's news"this election season.

Rick couldn't stay on the Reality TV show because he was sent over to the Kiddie Table for TV debates which is really the "kiss of death".   Also, at the end of the day he lost in 2012, so I think most people see him as "yesterday's news".

Finally, I did want to bring up another candidate that I totally forgot about ( there were a lot !)

Evangelicals Finally Doing the "Right" Thing on Environment

     I was delighted to read an article yesterday morning in our local “bugle”, The Orlando Sentinel elaborating on a trend coming from the evangelicals to encourage our governor and the government to start taking climate change seriously.   It has always bothered how so many religious people are so ambivalent towards the environment.   Aren't they the ones that believe all the earth's bounty and life was designed and created by the Lord himself ?   Why would He then be OK with them to be so reckless about it by turning it into a part of our crass and never ending political debate ?   I have always been a bit of a tree-hugger as anyone who reads this blog is well aware.  (Lest the reader question my claim to always veer towards the middle.   The fact of the matter is I don't see protecting the environment as right or left….... I see it as common sense).  As I understand it this is and will be the only planet at our disposal for the foreseeable future.  Right?  Why test that fact  and risk  punching a hole in our lifeboat when any agreeable landfall is centuries away in technology?   Indeed, the Republican reluctance to address issues regarding the environment is the reason I left that party.  This is nothing to do with corporations or labor or democrats or republicans it's to do with the air we breath and the fresh water that will be available for our kids and their kids in the next century.  Finally,  yes, it has to do with our planet getting hotter because of our actions.  Global Warming, the much maligned moniker that the far right has had so much fun impugning is fast becoming an accepted fact much as the debate for the flatness of the world 500 years ago was overwhelmed by the reality that it is....... round.  

So, I was pleased to see others of my faith (I am a non-denominational Christian) stand up and move forward in defense of our planet despite the custom of fighting all things "left".   The Bible is very clear that mankind is responsible for the well being of our planet.  One thing that is never clarified is  any particular political persuasion we should all be choosing.   The hypocrisy and contradiction that comes from many "so called" Christians within the right leaning ranks of society is offensive.  Like so many other issues, these self proclaimed Christians are often the ones that least practice what Jesus taught us to do. They  judge, they're hypocrites, they covet money, they're materialistic and they neglect the poor.  So, I am pleasantly encouraged by this movement to start acting like real Christians in the battle to preserve our planet for all of mankind.   That's a lot of poor people we're helping by protecting the environment…… in fact if you think about it, it's ALL the poor people.... and the rich and the middle class and all the plants and all the animals., etc....

In Genesis from the lips of God, it's announced  this way:   "Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven". 

His opinion of it is put this way;  "And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good".

To me this holds much more water in the grand scheme of things than any other argument such as granting the corporations more levity in doing as they please to make a profit and bestow us with their low paying jobs.  In the end, all of God's creation is dependent on us to do the right thing here.  All religious affiliations from Muslim to Hindu to Buddhist should stop fighting one another and do God real honor by banding together to tackle all threats to our planet.

A Common Enemy Brings Rare Bi-Partisan Agreement

In a previous blog I referred to the Ukranian-Russian conflict as none of our business but as is often the case... time has revealed a clarity that I think justifies far more severe sanctions against Russia and more accurately against Putin.  This guy is pouring gasoline on the internal affairs of the sovereign state that is Ukraine by supplying weapons and firing guns from within Russia itself.  Also, when the rebels  responsible for shooting down  a commercial airliner (probably a mistake, but so what?)  then have the audacity to prevent investigators from even going into the crash site...... then international outrage is warranted.  Nearly 300 innocent people are now dead because of Russian meddling.  Their determination that somehow that is defensible boggles the mind.  This is the consequence of a dictator whipping up nationalism within his own borders, nothing else.  He is no Hitler or Stalin (right now), but still he is a dictator because a tyrant always murders the innocents with little regard for humanity or common decency.  It is him, his ego, and the mongoloid sheep that follow him with blind faith in his "bo-peep" nationalism.  Picture the multitudes of Germans frothing at the mouth over the words of the maniac Adolf Hitler as he led their country straight over a cliff.

What a disappointment as I had felt for years that Russia had finally joined the rest of the world by wedding democracy.  When I was a kid they were always the bad guys, then they evolved in the 90's to a form of democracy and freedom that had been unthinkable to me as a youth.  Now, the Russian bear has awaken from its sleep and found the need to bludgeon Goldilocks Russia and her new found porridge of liberty.  The Russian need for control and order that comes with totalitarianism proved irresistible, I guess.  The Russian people are certainly within their right to embrace whatever form of leadership they want,  no matter how repulsive,  but when that leader sucker punches a neighbor struggling to steady its own boat of prosperity.... that's a problem.

So, as is often the case in the face of a common enemy., this week the two parties exercised a rare and elusive bi-partisan agreement.  They agreed that strong sanctions against an enemy of liberty must be enacted.  If only they could do this for the good of our nation in regards to the significant problems our country faces today such as health care, illegal immigration, and the national debt.  To them the porridge is always the too cold or too hot according to the bowl the "other side" is holding.    In domestic affairs it is the parties themselves that are the enemies of liberty.
